Biography
Very little information has been preserved about Vivaldi's biography. Perhaps he was born in Genoa around 1495 and came from a noble Vivaldi family. He has held various positions in the Genoese state, including prosecutor, member of the board of governors, mayor of Sestri Levante and the high prosecutor.
Vivaldi was elected Doge on January 4, 1559 . During his tenure, he developed a series of measures to regulate public order, pardoned some French prisoners arrested in the port of Castiglione della Pescaia, and also welcomed the peace concluded between King Philip II of Spain and King Henry II of France.
His mandate expired on January 4, 1561 , after which Vivaldi unexpectedly decided to withdraw from public life due to obvious health problems. He died in Genoa in 1577 and was buried in the monastery of Madonna del Monte.
