Contribution to Philately
MA Dobin was a member of the All-Union Society of Philatelists , later the Union of Philatelists of Russia (SFR), and the Union of Philatelists of St. Petersburg [3] [4] .
One of his main interests in collecting was the Russian postal stamps of the homear era (1750-1858), the history of the post of Russia and St. Petersburg [3] [4] [≡] .

In 1995, Dobin became a member of the International Association of Philatelic Experts ( AIEP [5] ) [3] [4] . Since 1991, he was also a member of the Expert Council on Russian Philately [3] .
As of July 1, 2011, Manfred Dobin was a member of the Jury College of the SFR of the national category [6] .

Articles
M. A. Dobin also published his works in philatelic journals . Moreover, the history of the postal service of the Russian Empire was the main focus of his research work [3] [4] . He wrote a number of articles in the monthly journal Philately of the USSR on this [7] and other topics [8] . Some of his articles were translated and published in the journal Rossika [9] .
From the second half of the 1970s, Dobin began to publish his philatelic studies in the yearbook “Soviet Collector” (in the post-Soviet time, “Collector” ) [10] , and in the 1980s - 1990s was a member of its editorial board.
At a later time, Manfred Dobin was published in the Russian almanac "Postal whole things and postal history" [11] .
Honors and Awards
Dobin was an honorary member of the SFR and the Union of Philatelists of St. Petersburg, the International Club of Grand Prix Prize Winners of the World Philatelic Exhibitions , and the holder of gold medals and honorary prizes of the World Philatelic Exhibitions [3] [4] .
The development of Manfred Dobin has repeatedly received recognition at various philatelic exhibitions . He was awarded the highest exhibition award of the International Grand Prix Federation of Philately at the World Exhibition "Russia" [3] .
In the Soviet period, the collection of M. A. Dobin “From the history of the postmark of Russia ” won gold medals at the international exhibitions Sotsfileks-83 in Moscow [12] and Sotsfileks-84 in Wroclaw [13] .
At the philatelic exhibition POLSKA '93, his exhibit “History of the Russian Post” was awarded a large gold medal [14] .
