History
The territory of the district was inhabited from the first years of its existence. This is evidenced by the city plans of 1768-1784. - the development is indicated beyond the Miass River . Judging by the documents, the district of the city began to be populated already when the fortress was laid. Moreover, its separation into an independent part begins in 1768, when St. Nicholas Church was consecrated. In 1894, a railway was laid on the territory of the district to Yekaterinburg. The reference book of V. Vesnovsky “All Chelyabinsk” (1909) included the Zarechny district, which included 21 streets. At the beginning of the XX century, a military town of red bricks appeared on Semenovskaya Gorka - Red Barracks , which until 2010 housed the Chelyabinsk Higher Military Automobile Command and Engineering School named after P.A. Rotmistrova .
In 1960, the district entered the Central District , but even then the question of the development of the North-West was being decided. Until 1960–70 acted the village of Kirsarai .
The district was formed in December 9, 1970 according to the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR due to the disaggregation of the Central and Soviet regions ; was named after the first chairman of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR Mikhail Kalinin . However, this area is the largest in the city in terms of population. On a modern map of the city, the district is located stretched from east to west with a belt over 18 km long and an area of about 48 square meters. km The district includes residential areas bounded by Victory Avenue and the Miass River. The eastern part of the region with its industrial zones seems to be balanced by the sleeping North-Western region with groves of white-birch birches.
On April 14, 1999, the Chelyabinsk City Duma approved the modern borders of the district.
Through the district there are roads to Ufa, Kurgan, Yekaterinburg, more than 130 streets and lanes, Victory Avenue , which is the longest street in Chelyabinsk. The main transport arteries of the area: Victory Ave., st. Kirova, st. Kashirin brothers, Sverdlovsky prospect, st. Chicherina, st. Molodogvardeytsev, st. Russian.
