Aigialosaurus ( lat. , From Greek αιγιαλού - sea coast and σαύρα - lizard, possible Russian name - aigialosaurus) - a genus of extinct reptiles from the Aigialosauridae family, close to mosasaurs . For the first time, fossils belonging to the genus were found in Croatia in the Upper Cretaceous sediments [1] . According to the latest molecular and morphological data, Aigialosaurus is the oldest known representative of the Mosasauroidea superfamily [2] [3] .
