Edgar Radar Station ( RCAF Station Edgar ) - a radar station , part of the Paintree line , located in the town of Oro-Medont, Ontario , Canada , about 20 kilometers northeast of Barry . The station was built in 1952 , as a base for the 31st aircraft control and warning, functioned from 1952 to 1964 . The complex was sold by the Ontario authorities in November 1964 for 218,225 Canadian dollars , and was subsequently used as a rehabilitation center for the disabled for up to 1999 . [one]

The complex consisted of 84 residential buildings, two offices , a swimming pool , a bowling center, a baseball stadium, a hospital , a church and a school .
As part of the deinstitutionalization program, the government began to close all the institutions of the settlement, and by 1999 the center was completely closed [1] .
From 1999 to 2011, the base was almost never used, unless the base was a temporary training center for police or military personnel. By the fall of 2011, all buildings were demolished.
