Snipe

Beckas ( lat. Gallinago ) is a genus of small marsh birds of the family of beret , widespread in the world (absent in Australia ). Combines a group of very similar birds with a very long thin beak and a protective coat color. The majority of species are distinguished by the so-called “overcurrent” - a characteristic demonstrative flight performed at dusk Biotopes - wet and wetlands. They feed mainly on small invertebrates , which with the help of a long beak are found in moist soil. In the avifauna of Russia there are 6 species - a snipe , a Japanese snipe , an Asian snipe , a snipe , a forest snipe , a mountain snipe . The Japanese snipe is listed in the Red Book of Russia as a rare, sporadically common species.
