The main characters of the series are three Zaporizhzhya Cossacks : a long-haired, a shorty and a strongman (according to the script they are named Gray, Eye and Tour, respectively, but they are always nameless in the series). Gray is a cunning and reasonable tall Cossack in a red caftan and hat, he is an ataman, the Eye is small, but peppy and warlike (he always carries a huge mortar gun with him, and he earned his nickname for well-aimed shooting, which is confirmed by a number of episodes), dressed in trousers and a white shirt, on his head a settler. The tour is healthy and strong, although shy and sentimental. Dressed like the Eye, only because of the complexion of the shirt barely converges on the chest. His hairstyle is a short braid. All three fall into incredible adventures, meeting people from different countries and eras, even with gods and aliens. The main characters have a shuttle , horses, a pair of oxen, and in the series with the participation of their wives it is clear that a strong household . Sometimes they go on campaigns with a whole army and then up to a dozen similar to each other join them as twins of nameless Cossacks. In addition to the main characters, pirates are also cross-cutting characters (from the series “How the Cossacks helped the brides”): they are present in the series “How the Cossacks played hockey”. Most episodes begin on top of a hill crowned with a pagan idol (the idol also serves the heroes of the pantry) - this is a kind of Cossack headquarters.

The episode tells about the abduction of the Eye (who went in search of tobacco for pipes, having forgotten his weapons at the fire) and other Cossacks by the Crimean Tatars . Gray and Tour enter the enemy’s stronghold with adventures, find those abducted from a familiar song that he sings while sitting in Zindane, never losing his eye, free his friends and return home, grabbing tobacco bales at the same time. The Cossacks return from the trip and tell their comrades about football, the match of which they visited in England. Upon learning that the winners receive from the hands of the British Queen herself a reward - a cup, the Cossacks are inspired and decide to assemble a team. First they train, then go with the ball and without weapons to the west. On the way, they meet the Germans in the form of stereotypical knights in armor of the XIV century, the French (musketeers of the XVII century, their contemporaries). Both those and others are not averse to playing football. The playing style of each team resembles national features - the Germans line up with a “pig” and stubbornly go to the gates, ousting rivals. Cossacks beat them with their speed and deft passes, which the Germans could not do because of the heavy armor. The game of the musketeers was reminiscent of ballroom dancing. The Cossacks opposed their hopak to them and also won. Finally, the Cossacks get to the British island, where they play with a team of English gentlemen of the XIX century. They played very skillfully in the rain and already scored three goals, when the annoyed Tur hit the ball over the cloud hanging over the stadium and the rain stopped. On a dried field, the Cossacks were no longer equal. As a result, they get a golden goblet and return home to their native hill.

As the leading TV shows of ICT Channel noted, if we consider the knights not as Germans, but as Swedes, the cartoon surprisingly accurately predicted the composition of the group that Ukraine got at the 2012 European Football Championship , and even the order of matches: Sweden, France, England ^[1] . In this series, Cossacks meet aliens caricatured like themselves (small, long and strong). An alien flying saucer needs oil to return to their homeland. In search of suitable oil, Cossacks, along with aliens, wander around Europe: they protect Bulgaria from the Genoese, invent water pipes in ancient Rome and almost fall on the bonfire of the Inquisition in Spain. But not one of the oils extracted by the Cossacks is suitable for the plate engine. And only at the end of the series, when the Cossacks discover that one wheel has creaked in their cart and lubricate it with tar stored in the bucket, the aliens understand that this is the very oil that they needed. Having received tar from the Cossacks and handed them gifts (a lighter, a stethoscope and a drill), they say goodbye to their earthly friends and fly away on their plate, which now has a bucket hanging from the back like a cart.
