Colorful salt ( Bulgarian salt , Bulgarian sharena salt ) is a culinary mixture of spices and salt. A very common flavor in Bulgarian cuisine, used in the preparation of vegetable and meat dishes, both cold and hot. Served as part of a set of spices to the table.

Colorful salt contains at least three components: salt, red pepper ( paprika ), savory . Often used a mixture of five components, including fenugreek and thyme . Sometimes dried corn kernels or pumpkin seeds are ground in flour. Depending on whether the red pepper is made from sweet or more pungent fruits, colorful salt may have a different sharpness. Bright salt with the addition of black pepper or zira is called spicy, but these spices suppress the specific taste of motley salt, therefore they are rarely used. In some recipes are found parsley , dill , peppermint , walnuts .
Preparation of variegated salt consists in grinding the spice mixture and sifting the finished mixture. The bright salt is stored in jars. It is recommended to harvest and store a mixture of spices, and add salt immediately before use.
