Mimi Kodeli ( Alb. Mimi Kodheli ; born September 11, 1964 ) is an Albanian politician who served as Minister of Defense of Albania from September 15, 2013 to September 11, 2017 in the Edi Rama government. She became the first woman in this position [1] .

Biography
Mimi Kodeli was born in Tirana on September 11, 1964. She graduated in 1986 from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana in Finance. In 2002, Kodeli entered politics, being appointed deputy mayor of the municipality of Tirana. In 2005, she took up the post of prefect of the Tirana district and in 2009 was elected a member of the Parliament of Albania , taking the post of deputy chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee under the legislative branch. Since 2007, Kodeli has been a member of the leadership of the Socialist Party of Albania .
Her husband’s name is Leka and they have a son, Mikel. Mimi Kodeli is fluent in English and Italian , and also speaks French and Spanish .
