Geography
The district is located in the southeastern part of the city and borders in the west with the Soviet , and in the north with the Traktorozavodsky district. Access to it from other areas of the city is complicated by the fact that it is separated from the rest of the city by a railway from the west and north. The accessibility of the area has significantly improved after the construction of a road bridge over the railways near the station at the end of the 20th century . From the south-west the area is bounded by the once cleanest and salty, and now polluted and desalinated Smolino lake. In the east, the district borders with the satellite city of Chelyabinsk Kopeysk . The central street of the district is Gagarin Street. There is a large medgorodok in the district: the city hospital number 9, the cinema "Aurora". In the area there was a large (over 50 hectares) forest park left over from the fruit and berry station (Plodushka). In 2016, next to this place was built housing complex "Lenin Heights". In 2017, "Plodushka" was adopted into municipal ownership. Specialists of the Chelyabinsk State University have developed a project of improvement "Plodushki". It provides for three components at this site: the church, which will include the temple, the scientific - with a museum of selection of fruit crops, arboretum and recreational - with places for recreation of citizens. History
On November 3, 1935, the city authorities decided to form 3 districts: Leninsky, Stalin (now Central ) and Kirov. Borders between the districts were established on November 17th . Simultaneously, from the Kirov district to the Leninsky plant went to them. Kolyushchenko and Chelyabinsk railway junction. In October 1940, a decision was made to disaggregate the Leninsky district and change the boundaries of the Soviet and Kirovsky districts, as a result the western part of the plant. Kolyushchenko and the railway junction of Chelyabinsk retreated back to the Kirovsky district. The boundaries of the district were changed in 1944 in connection with the formation of the Zheleznodorozhny district and in 1960 after its abolition.
