Biography

Singhuber was born into a Viennese working-class family. After the birth of his son, Zinghuber moved to the Soviet Union , where his father worked in the aviation industry. After the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was concluded, the family had to leave Moscow, at the border they were arrested and placed in a "re-education camp", and then sent to reside in Galle . Kurt Singhuber graduated from high school in 1950. Since 1945 he was a member of the anti-fascist youth committee, and in 1946 he joined the SSNM . In the years 1949-1950 he was chairman of the SSNM organization in Wildau . In 1951 he joined the SED . Having received a working specialty in mechanical engineering, Zinghuber worked at the ABUS national enterprise in Wildau and studied at the Dresden Technical University until 1952, and then at the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute until 1957. Received an engineering degree.

Since 1957, Kurt Singhuber worked as a designer, in 1959-1961 he served as technical director of the Heinrich Rau Engineering Plant in Wildau. Since 1958, he was a member of the central working group for research in the field of technology, and since 1963, he worked in hardware at the Scientific Research Council of the GDR . After receiving a correspondence education at the Berlin Higher School of Economics, Singhuber was a graduate student and teacher at the Otto von Guericke Magdeburg Higher Technical School in 1961-1964. In 1961-1965 he was Director for Technical and Production Issues of a design enterprise in the field of ferrous metallurgy in Berlin. In 1966-1967, he held the post of Deputy Minister of Mining, Metallurgy and Potassium Industry of the GDR. In 1967 he defended his doctoral dissertation. Since 1967, Singhuber has been an extraordinary member of the GDR Research Council and led the GDR delegation to the Permanent Commission on Iron and Steel in the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance .

From July 1967 to November 1989, Kurt Singhuber served as Minister of Mining, Metallurgy and Potassium of the GDR. In 1968-1973, Singhuber studied at the Karl Marx Higher Party School under the SED Central Committee and received a social science diploma. From November 1989 to April 1990, he served as Minister of Heavy Industry in the government of Hans Modrow .
