Biography
Alaric Fridtjof Holmgren was born on October 22, 1831 in the Swedish county Ostergotland . He studied medicine and physiology at Uppsala University and abroad. Upon his return, he created in Uppsala in 1862 the first physiological laboratory in the Scandinavian region, and in 1864 he occupied the department of physiology at the alma mater [3] .
In 1880, Holmgren was admitted to the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences [4] .
Of the many works of Holmgren, the most famous is Studien ΓΌber Farbenblindheit (1874-1880). He also tried his hand at the literary field [3] .
Alaric Fridtjof Holmgren died on August 14, 1897 in the city of Uppsala.
