Kurt Fichtner ( German: Kurt Fichtner ; August 16, 1916 , Breslau - October 11, 2003 ) - German politician, member of the SED . Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the GDR in 1967-1977. Minister of Mining, Metallurgy and Potassium Industry of the GDR in 1966-1967.

Biography
Kurt Fichtner was born in the family of a locksmith, in 1932 he graduated from high school. In 1932-1935 he received a commercial education and until 1945 worked intermittently as a sales clerk in Breslau and Essen . In 1937 he was called up to work by the Imperial Labor Service , in 1939-1940 he served in the Wehrmacht , in 1945 he was called up to the Volkssturm .
In 1945, Fichtner joined the Communist Party of Germany . In 1946 he worked as editor of the newspaper Sächsische Volkszeitung . In 1948 he was the managing director of the industrial office in Dresden , then in 1948-1950 he worked in the German Trade Society in Berlin . In 1951-1954, he led the national enterprise in the field of aluminum industry in Rakwitz , then until 1958 he headed the main department of non-ferrous metallurgy in the ministry of mining and foundry, in 1958-1961 he was the head of the mining and foundry industry in the State Planning Commission . In 1961-1964, Fichtner led the department of non-ferrous metallurgy in the Council of National Economy. In 1963 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Freiberg Mining Academy . From April 1963 to July 1964 he studied at the Higher Party School at the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow . In 1964-1965, the head Fichtner served as deputy chairman of the Council of National Economy. From January 1966 to July 1967, he served as Minister of Mining and Metallurgy, from 1967-1977 he was Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the GDR and was responsible for fixed assets and investment policies. From February 1974 to June 1979, Fichtner served as Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission for Investment Coordination and was a member of the GDR Council of Ministers.
In 1971-1981, Kurt Fichtner was a candidate member of the SED Central Committee. In 1981-1988 he headed the Friendship Society with Belgium.
