Stola is an element of the liturgical vestments of the Catholic (and Lutheran ) cleric . Silk ribbon 5-10 cm wide and about 2 meters long with crosses sewn on the ends and in the middle. It is worn on top of an alba , under a dalmatian or guard . Color varies depending on the time of the church year . The bishop and the priest put the table on the neck so that its ends go down to the knees at the same level. Previously, only a bishop could "carry" a table during a mass, while a priest had to cross it on his chest, tying the ends with a belt. The deacon wears a table on his left shoulder, mounted on his right side. Put on the table like an unbound scarf, without crossing over the chest, as was customary earlier.
The pope wears an embroidered so-called "sovereign" table with mozzetta and rochetto .
