It was formed thanks to the Kura River , which washed over the northern shore. The depth is small. In some places it reaches 0.5 m. Each year, the Kura River brings several thousand tons of sand to the bay - its main channel flows into the Zuidostovy Kultuk. Due to this, the water in the bay is slightly salted.
