Generalski-Stol is located on an ancient route that led from the Adriatic coast in the Senya region through the strategic pass Vratnik separating the mountains of Gorski Kotar from Velebit , inland of mainland Croatia. The first road here was built in Roman times [3] . Now on this route passes the highway D23.
In the XII-XIII centuries, these lands became the property of Frankopans , in the XVI century they became part of the Military Border . With its modern name, Generalski-Stol is due to the fact that for some time the headquarters of the general of the Croatian military border Vuk Krsto Frankopan ( en: Vuk Krsto Frankopan ) [3]
