Origin
In 1573 Vasily Dmitrievich Zhokhov was listed as the oprichnik of Ivan the Terrible [1] .
The genus of the nobles Zhokhovs is descended from Osip Alekseevich Zhokhov, who was hired in 1637, his offspring was included in Part VI of the genealogy book of the Kostroma province; another branch of the same kind was included in Part II of the genealogy book of the Yaroslavl province [2] .
The offspring of Gregory Zhokhov, who in 1665 was Epiphanian voivod, was included in Part VI of the genealogy book of the Tula province.
Owned the estate of Yakhna in the Chukhloma district of the Kostroma province [3] (on the banks of the river Yakhnya , now the Antropovsky district of the Kostroma region, there were two estates: Big and Small Yakhna)
Zhokhov Vladimir Platonovich (5/17/1917 - 9/23/1988) - Mitred Archpriest - compiled the pedigree of the hereditary nobles of the Zhokhovs along the Kostroma line until the XIV century. (stored in the funds of the Kostroma Museum-Reserve), its scientific level was highly appreciated by the Chairman of the RAS Archaeographic Commission S. O. Schmidt [4] .
History
Representatives of the clan held various military and government posts:
Zhokhov 2nd Peter Alexandrovich - lieutenant colonel, from 02/05/1812 to 06/29/1818 - commander of the Nasheburg Infantry Regiment [5] ; Vasily Zhokhov - Colonel from 12/17/1802 to 03/24/1808 - Commander of the Kazan Garrison Regiment
In Soviet times, some members of the genus were subjected to repression:
Zhokhov Petr Vasilievich, born in 1903, groom, rayon laboratory, p. Zholovo, Pokrovsky District; triple NKVD Orenb. region 08/14/37. Reabil. 13.07.89; Zhokhov Pavel Denisovich, born in 1893, fisherman, Ship artillery, p. Ilek, Ileksky district; triple NKVD Orenb. region 11/14/37. Reabil. 01/06/64
According to the documents of the past years, there are other Zhokhovs, whose connection between them is rather difficult to establish:
Zhokhov Lev Aleksandrovich (died 1845) - approved by the nobility on 12/16/1844 by the decree of the Senate No. 7421 (Kaluga gubernia) together with five sons [6] ; Zhokhov Saltyk, the weekly worker for Torzhok 1591-1592 - l. 167. [7] .
Zhokhov House
The house of the nobles Zhokhovs is in St. Petersburg. In the 1820-1860-ies this house, located at the 7th line of V. O. , house 38 - belonged to the family of Lieutenant-General Zhokhov [8] . Before the revolution, the house belonged to Countess E. N. Adlerberg. During the blockade in 1943, the house suffered from an incendiary bomb: all the ceilings burned and collapsed, only the walls remained. After the war, the house was restored.
Coat of arms of the noble family of Zhokhovs
The coat of arms is represented in the shield by the Deer running to the right, and above him is a Hand in Lats, holding the Sword [9] .
