“Workers of all countries, unite!” ( German: Proletarier aller Länder, vereinigt Euch! ) Is one of the most famous internationalist communist slogans. It was first expressed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in the “ Manifesto of the Communist Party ”:
Communists consider it a shameful thing to hide their views and intentions. They openly declare that their goals can be achieved only by forcibly overthrowing the entire existing social system. Let the ruling classes shudder before the Communist Revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose in it except their chains. They will acquire the whole world.
PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, CONNECT!
In 1920, the Communist International issued the following slogan for the peoples of the East: "Workers of all countries and oppressed peoples, unite!" On this issue V. I. Lenin noted [1] :
Of course, from the point of view of the "Communist Manifesto" this is not true, but the "Communist Manifesto" was written under completely different conditions, from the point of view of current politics this is true.
This version of the slogan was not widely known, but was later often used by Maoists .
