Undasyn Baykenovich Ashimov (born March 21, 1951, now the village of Zerenda, Zerendinsky District, Akmola Region ) is a Soviet and Kazakh scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences (1992), professor (1993), academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan , rector of NKSU .

Biography
Born March 21, 1951 in the family of party leader Baiken Ashimov . In 1973 he graduated from the Energy Department of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute. IN AND. Lenin , worked at the department of power supply of industrial enterprises. In 1978, he received a Ph.D. in technical sciences . He taught at the Alma-Ata Energy Institute . In 1992, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the theme "Development of theoretical foundations, the creation of electrical equipment for obtaining refractory materials and the optimization of its work." Since 1996 - Vice-Rector of the Kazakh National Technical University. Since 2002 - rector of North Kazakhstan State University .
The main scientific works are devoted to the creation of electrothermal equipment, the theory and practice of electrical technology and energy storage. Ashimov was the first to study the processes of alternating energy and mass and magnetohydrodynamics in the processing of fused refractory oxides by an electric arc. As a result, a new direction was created in the development of thermal equipment controlled by highly efficient automation.
