Museum “Kalinin Front. August 1943 ” - opened in the hut of the village of Khoroshevo, Rzhevsky District, Tver Region on July 3, 2015 . In this hut on August 3-5, 1943, Joseph Stalin stayed during his only trip to the front, to the place of bloody battles for Rzhev . On August 5, in the hut, he met with the commander of the Kalinin Front , Colonel General Andrei Ivanovich Eremenko [1] . Here, on the night of August 4-5, 1943, Stalin ordered the first fireworks to be held in Moscow in honor of the troops who liberated Oryol and Belgorod during the Battle of Kursk [2] .

Creation History
The hut in which Stalin stayed during his only visit to the front during the whole war belonged to Natalia Kondratyeva, one of the oldest flax comb factories in Russia. A few days after the departure of Stalin, Natalya Kondratieva was offered to choose any house in the Soviet Union for living, and in the hut they made a hut-reading room . According to the memoirs of contemporaries, Stalin personally insisted on this when he found out that they want to keep the house for history: “People will come to the museum once, but they will go to the library all the time ...” [2] .
After the war, a small memorial part dedicated to Stalin was created in the hut-reading room, which was liquidated in the late 1950s , after the exposure of the Stalin personality cult . In 1983, the memorial in the library was restored [4] .
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Stalin’s trip to the front, on August 5, 2013, a memorial plaque was erected on the hut, which recalled that it was in this house that Stalin ordered the first artillery salute in Moscow, in honor of the troops who liberated Oryol and Belgorod [4] .
On July 3, 2015, after the reconstruction of the village library located in the hut, the grand opening of the museum took place. [3] [5] .
Exposition
After reconstruction, the museum presents a new expanded exhibition , which presents: military documents, photographs, personal items of soldiers and officers of that era. The museum has recreated the historical interior of the hut of that time.
The museum’s exposition was supplemented by relics and personal belongings of participants in those events that local residents voluntarily donated when they learned about the upcoming opening of the museum.
When creating the exposition, modern technologies were applied, so films on the Great Patriotic War are broadcast on monitors located in the museum [5] .
Events
A visit to the museum is part of the military historical route “Dear heavy, glorious road ...”, organized as part of the All-Russian patriotic program “Victory Roads” [6] .
On August 5, 2015, the museum held a one-day exhibition of paintings that depict Stalin, dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of Stalin’s visit to the front. Some of the paintings presented were made by the graduate of the first graduation of the Surikov Institute Nikolai Sergeyev. The exhibition was organized by the Russian Military Historical Society [1] .
