Gabriel Cleary ( born Gabriel Cleary , born in 1945 in Talla , South Dublin ) is a volunteer of the Irish Republican Army (" temporary " wing), a senior engineer and director of the engineering department at IRA Headquarters.

In 1987, Cleary was arrested after the governments of France and Ireland organized an operation to intercept transport ships from Libya that carried weapons to the IRA. Cleary spent five years in a French prison, in 1992 he was released. In 1996, he was arrested in Liish county on charges of manufacturing explosives (an underground bomb factory was also discovered). In 1998, released under the Belfast Agreement .
