Lura [1] is a national park located in the municipality of Diber in the north-eastern part of Albania . Lura National Park was created in 1966 and covers an area of 1280 hectares on the eastern side of Mount Kunora, the highest mountain of Lura. The height of the mountain is 2119 meters above sea level. [2] The park is known for its twelve lakes and wildlife. All this all year round attracts visitors to the park.

In 2014, the Albanian government launched measures to restore the forest in the park and carry out road works there. [3] [4] After the transition to capitalism, massive deforestation was carried out in the country, and forest fires occurred. The ecosystem of the park has suffered greatly from all this.
Geography
Lura National Park is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Lura. The park is home to many rare species of wildlife.
Twelve glacial lakes of the park arose during the Ice Age. Their total area is about 100 hectares. The lakes are located in the north-eastern part of the country in the Dibre region at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,500 meters. In summer, the lakes are overgrown with large white water lilies.
Five main lakes of the park:
- Great Lake (Alb: Liqeni i Madh ), 32 ha;
- Pine Lake, 13 ha;
- Black Lake (Alb: Liqeni i Zi ), 8 ha;
- Flower Lake (Alb .: Liqeni i Luleve ), 4 ha
- Cow Lake (Alb .: Liqeni i Lopeve )
Flora and Fauna
Beech is the most common tree species in the park. It grows at altitudes from 900 and 1000 m (2953 and 3281 feet) to 1900 and 2000 m (6234 and 6562 feet). Black pine grows in abundance at altitudes from 1600 to 1700 meters, red pines are found on rocky slopes at heights from 1700 to 2000 meters. The forests are inhabited by European brown bear , common lynx , Eurasian wolf , pine marten , European roe deer , capercaillie , etc.
The park provides many opportunities for ecotourism, winter sports, horse riding, etc.
