In 1523 he acquired citizenship rights in Nuremberg as a woodcarver. In the period from 1526 to 1555 he created more than 350 medals with portraits of the inhabitants of Nuremberg (including Dürer ) and the rulers of the German states (Saxon Duke Johann Friedrich II , Margrave Brandenburg-Ansbach Georg with his wife and others).
For the manufacture of models I used stone extracted from Jurassic sediments near Kelheim and Zolnhofen . His works are distinguished by careful study of portraits, details of clothing, inscriptions and emblems. 12 medals made in the years 1542-1543, signed by "MG". Work after 1555 is unknown.
He was twice married. After the death of Margaret's first wife in 1556, he married Ursula Burkhart in 1557.
