The Red Cross of Republika Srpska ( Serb. Crveni krst Republika Srpske ) is a humanitarian organization of the Republika Srpska , which operates within the framework of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement . Formed since the start of the Bosnian war in 1992, which led to the collapse of the Red Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
Organization Status and Activities
The Red Cross of the Republika Srpska (CC CC) is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization operating on the territory of the Republika Srpska. Its status is defined by the Law of the Powers of the Red Cross of the Republika Srpska (Official Gazette of the Republika Srpska No. 18/94 and No. 110/03), as well as by the provisions of the Red Cross Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, the CC RS carries out its work in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949. The mission of the CC of the RS is to prevent and alleviate the suffering of people, protect their life and health on the basis of ensuring respect for the human person, especially during periods of armed conflict and other emergencies [1] .
The work of the KK RS began in 1992 practically from scratch with the forces of a small number of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously employed in the Red Cross and several volunteers involved. Humanitarian assistance was provided in extreme conditions with the help of, inter alia, international organizations.
Currently, the Red Cross RS is working in the following areas:
- Social humanitarian activities;
- First aid;
- Nursing Care Program;
- Medical education program;
- Voluntary blood donation;
- Information and publishing activities and propaganda;
- The international cooperation;
- Disaster Management Program.
The activities of the Red Cross of the Republika Srpska are regularly covered by the media and related organizations. So, in the spring of 2014, CKRS did a great job in providing a wide variety of assistance to victims of the largest floods in the last 120 years in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina [2] . However, the natural disaster brought to life not only humanitarian and social problems. Mines remaining in these territories since the Bosnian war have moved from marked locations. This significantly threw back the process of mine clearance [3] . In February 2016, CC RS announced the mobilization of young volunteers to provide humanitarian assistance in connection with the escalation of the European migration crisis and the change of refugee movement routes [4] .
