Biography

Born July 22, 1961 in the village of Sofrino, Moscow Region, in a family of ordinary workers.
In 1978 he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University , majoring in mathematics.
The supervisor is Mikhail Ilyich Zelikin . After graduating from university in 1983, he entered graduate school in the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University.

One interesting story was connected with the time of graduate school studies. Vladimir's father at that time retired from a disability and began to collect a math library for his son. Fedor Ivanovich made acquaintances in bookstores, bought and exchanged books. Borisov Sr. became famous in Moscow's bibliophile circles as a person who had finished only elementary school and gathered his son a wonderful selection of mathematical books. At the same time, not understanding the contents of the books, he remembered all the books bought by the authors and the colors of the roots.

In 1986 he graduated from graduate school and began working at the Department of Higher Mathematics at the Moscow Institute of Technology , where he worked until 2002. He went from assistant, then assistant professor, and became a professor.
In 1989, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, topic: "Chetering modes in the theory of optimal control."
In 2000 - defense of a doctoral dissertation, theme: "Trajectories with increasing switching of discontinuous Hamiltonian systems."
In 2002, he became the head of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Korolev Institute of Management, Economics and the Institute of Management, Economics and Sociology.
In 2006, he initiated the creation of the specialty “Mathematical Methods in Economics” at the department with the qualification of “economist-mathematician”.
He died on January 9, 2010 .

Scientific and social activities

The author of 40 scientific and scientific-methodical works, including a monograph (in collaboration with M. I. Zelikin):

  • "Theory of Chattering Control with Application to Astronautics, Robotics, Economics and Engineering" Birkhauser, Boston, 1994
  • “Special optimal regimes in problems of mathematical economics”, Results of science and technology, Contemporary mathematics and applications, Tbilisi, 2003

From 2005 to 2007, he was the head of the RFBR Grant “Optimal Synthesis in the Neighborhood of Special Extremals”, also took part in the Grant of the President of Support for Leading Scientific Schools of the Russian Federation.

The project “Optimal control in infinite-dimensional space”, carried out under his leadership, was marked among the best received in 2009 by the expert council on mathematics, mechanics and computer science of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research . The main result of the work was to obtain an infinite-dimensional generalization of the Zelikin-Borisov theorem on the synthesis of optimal trajectories in a Hilbert space.

Rewards

Prize named after A. M. Lyapunov (2010) - for the series of works “Optimal modes with accumulation of switching”.
