- 1877 - Graduated from the Naval College with the Nakhimov Prize
- 1878-1879 - With the rank of midshipman, he went to the United States to participate in the conversion of the cruiser Africa , which he sailed in the Atlantic. January 15, 1879 promoted to the rank of midshipman with seniority on August 30, 1878 [1] .
- 1880 - Went to the Baltic, graduated from the Mine Officer Class with admission to mine officers of the 2nd category.
- 1882-1885 - As a mine officer, he participated in a round-the-world voyage on the Skobelev corvette under the command of V.V. Blagodarev . January 1, 1883 promoted to the rank of lieutenant [2] . January 22, 1883 was transferred to mine officers of the 1st rank [3] .
- 1886-1892 - destroyer commander, senior officer of the mine cruisers " Lieutenant Ilyin " (Baltic Fleet) and " Captain Saken " (Black Sea Fleet).
- 1893 - Acting. Director of the Baltic Plant.
- 1893 - He was promoted to captain of the 2nd rank with appointment to the Black Sea Fleet.
- 1898-1901 - He commanded inpatients in Greece and Turkey (the Kolkhida steamer, gunboats Kubanets and Chernomorets ).
December 6, 1901 was appointed naval agent in England with the production of rank captains of the 1st rank [4] .
- August 1905 - As "one of the best officers of the fleet," he was appointed commander of the cruiser Bogatyr .
- 1906 - Appointed the commander of the training detachment of warships (consisting of the battleships Glory , Tsesarevich , cruiser Bogatyr), and on August 19 he was promoted to rear admiral .
On January 15, 1907, he was appointed a companion of the Minister of the Sea [5] and on February 1 of the same year he took office [6] . Vice-Chairman of the Admiralty Council (1907-1908).
On July 7, 1908, due to conflicts with the State Duma, he was transferred to the post of chief of the Black Sea naval forces [7] . September 5, 1909 promoted to the rank of vice admiral .
- Summer 1909 - Due to the disaster of the submarine, “Flounder” was transferred to the post of chief commander of the Sevastopol port and military governor of Sevastopol, and then the head of the Nikolaev shipbuilding plants.
- 1911 - Re-appointed chief of naval forces of the Black Sea.
- Autumn 1911 - Due to stranded two ships in Romania, forced to resign.
- August 26, 1914 - Chairman of the Society for the Promotion of the Organization of Boy Scouts "Russian Scout".
Until 1917, he was on the board of the Society of Nikolaev Plants and Shipyards, in 1915 he did a lot for the construction of new battleships, destroyers and submarines on the Black Sea. In late 1919 - early 1920, he did much to restore the ships of the Black Sea Fleet (for the White Army).
Since 1920 in exile. He lived in Paris, where he was chairman of the Paris cabin company and an honorary member of the Naval Union. He died in Paris on January 2, 1934.
Memorable places
The name in the name of I.F. Bostrem is the bay in the New Guinean Sea , the island of New Guinea . Inspected in 1883 by the crew of the Skobelev corvette.
