History
The building was built in 1903-1905 according to the project of architect Androsov as the House of the Public Assembly, where officials, merchants, merchants and industrialists met.
After the revolution in October 1918, the building was transferred to the Voronezh organization of the RCP (B.) Under the club . One of the first working clubs was named after Karl Marx .
Already in the 1920s, the club had unions of atheists and Esperantists, a society of radio amateurs, a library, a drama, literary and choral circles, sports and pioneer sections.
During the Great Patriotic War, the palace of culture was destroyed and burned. The reconstruction project was carried out by architect Danilov.
In 1954, a new Palace of Culture for Railway Workers was opened, and in 1956 it was transferred to the management of the Southeast Railway . In 1961, 15 amateur groups and the first planetarium in the city worked in the Palace. A significant contribution to the development of the creative activity of the Palace was made by the directors L. I. Kornienko, Z. M. Dubrovskaya, V. G. Zubarev. The recreation evenings held in the park were very popular: brass and pop orchestras played. Lovers of books, chess, and music gathered in the park. Voronezh residents dubbed this place a short and affectionate name - “Carlosha”.
The Interest Group Photo Club Express was created in September 1964. It is noteworthy that, like half a century ago, when the scientific and technical photographic society was developing, creative photography is supported by the Southeastern Railway. The basis of the photo club was and still is made up of people of various professions, but all of them are brought together by a love for the thirteenth muse - photography. At the beginning, the club organized one exhibition a year - a reporting one, but already in the 70s and 80s Voronezh masters of photography participated in almost all exhibitions - art photography contests in the country and abroad. The photo club has hundreds of awards, diplomas and medals of various denominations. Over the years, more than two hundred photographers, amateurs and professionals have become members of the club.
In 2014, the Express photo club celebrated its 50th anniversary. At the anniversary exposition, analog works of the 60s - 90s and modern light painting with elements of computer processing were presented. In total over 33 authors.
For fans of the most popular form of fine art - art photography - the doors of the photo club are always open every Monday from 6 p.m.
In 1993, the Voronezh Chamber Theater was founded in the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers , which until 2014 rented a room here. In September 2015, the Chamber Theater regained this platform, where the "Old Stage" of the theater was located.
The palace building houses the Museum of the History of the Southeast Railway.
