Biography
Born in 1928.
He represented France at the 1948 Olympics, fought in the bantamweight (up to 57 kilograms) weight, and won the bronze medal of the Olympics.

In 1952, he also participated in the Olympic Games, but after the first meeting he withdrew from the competition.

After finishing his sports career, he worked for a long time as a trainer and sports functionary in the French Free-style Wrestling Federation.
He died in 1994.
In memory of the wrestler, the international Mémorial Charles Kouyos tournament is held [2] . The sports palace in the suburbs of Paris is named after the wrestler. [3]
