Biography
He spent his youthful years in Belogradchik and Lome. His father was a violinist and his mother a singer. [1] He studied at the Lviv Conservatory with Mechislav and Adam Soltys . In 1929 he graduated from the Warsaw Conservatory with Grzegorz Fitelberg and Kazimierz Sikorski (composition) and until 1939 he worked in Poland. Returning to Bulgaria, he led the choir groups in Sofia. In 1940-1948 - the artistic director of the Sofia Folk Opera , and in 1946-1951 - the head of the choir named after Georgi Kirkov. In 1948-1958 - the head of the directorate of the state concert association "Music". In 1948 he became one of the founders of the magazine "Bulgarian Music" ( Bulgarian. Bulgarian music ); in 1952-1955 - chief editor. Since 1949 he taught choral conducting at the Bulgarian Conservatory , since 1962 - professor. Among the students: Vasil Arnaudov , Georgi Robev. Member of the BKP since 1944.

In Varna, the annual international May choral competition is held, bearing the name of Georgi Dimitrov.
