Biography
In 1913 he graduated from the agronomy department of the Moscow Agricultural Institute . He worked at the Saratov, Kamenno-Stepnaya, Ural (since 1918) agricultural experimental stations. In 1920, he assumed the post of head of the Ural Experimental Station (instead of the deceased first leader Guryan Fomichev).
Since 1923, a researcher, in 1930-1934 the director of the Valuy experimental reclamation station.
Since 1934, the head. Department of Irrigated Agriculture (since 1941, general and irrigated agriculture) of the Saratov Agricultural Institute [1] [2] .
Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1935, degree awarded for the book Irrigated Agriculture). Professor (1934).
A pioneer in developing a system for applying temporary irrigation canals instead of permanent canals.
Author of the books “A New Irrigation System for Collective and State Farm Fields” (1950) and “Irrigation Systems with Temporary Irrigators” (1953).
He died on January 20, 1951 in Saratov .
Awards and Prizes
- Stalin Prize of the second degree (1951 - posthumous ) - for the development and implementation in agricultural practice of new irrigation methods using temporary irrigation canals.
Family
Son - Igor (1915-1964), music teacher.
As the breeder Galina Myasnikova recalled, S. A. Delinikaitis arrived at the Ural experimental station with a very cultural, musical family. They brought the piano, harmonium, harp, violin, flute. They settled in a stone building near the office of the experimental station on the territory of the Ural Agricultural School. [3] .
Trivia
In addition to daily work at the Ural experimental station, Delinikaitis S. A. was engaged with the children of workers and employees of the experimental station.
