Biography
Born in Rechitsa (now - in the Gomel region , Belarus ) in the family of a railway employee and a peasant [1] .
Since 1918 he participated in the Civil War . In 1924 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Leningrad University , in 1929 - the director's department of the Institute of Performing Arts (he studied simultaneously with Cherkasov , Chirkov , Zarubina , Junger ) [1] .
Since 1929 he worked at the State Drama Theater. A. S. Pushkin under the leadership of L. S. Vivien , but the director's career did not work out [1] .
In 1937 he was arrested, deported to the village of Kilmez (Kirov region) . He returned in 1940, lived in Tolmachevo (Leningrad Region) [1] .
With the beginning of the war, he fought on the Leningrad Front; in the Nevsky Dubrovka area he was severely shell-shocked, after treatment demobilized [2] . In 1943, re-drafted into the army; as the quartermaster of the field hospital, he participated in battles near Luga. Demobilized in March 1945 [1] .
He lived in Pskov , worked as the head of the song and dance ensemble, and recreated the Pskov Philharmonic . He repeatedly visited the Pushkin Mountains , participated in the annual celebrations of the Pushkin days [1] .
In the spring of 1949 he got cancer, died on September 12 of the same year. He was buried (presumably) at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery in St. Petersburg [1] . Rehabilitated in 1956 [1] .

Creativity
In the 1930s he wrote plays, sketches [4] ; collaborated with writers Eugene Ryss and Vsevolod Voevodin . The first story, Decree-2 (later Bracelet-2), was published in 1936 and enjoyed success with many horse lovers (including Marshal Budenny ).
During his life in Pskov, he published critical articles in the local newspapers about theatrical productions, stories and essays.
After the writer’s rehabilitation, his books have been reprinted more than once [1] .
