Historical Names
In ancient times, the river was called Bailanshui (白狼 水). In the era of the Liao Empire , the river was simply called Linghe and was written as 灵 河. After the overthrow of the Khitan empire, Liao, the Jurchen Empire of Jin began to write the name of the river as 凌河. Later, to distinguish from Xiaolinhe, the river was called Dalinghe.
Geography
The river is formed from two sources, which are both called "Dalinghe": the northern source is located in the territory of Lingyuan city district of Chaoyang city district, the southern one is in the territory of Jianchang county of Huludao city district. On the territory of the Kharachin-Zoi-Mongol Autonomous County, both streams merge into a single river, which flows to the northeast, flows through the urbanized part of Chaoyang, and after Beipiao , where Mannyuhe flows into it from the north, sharply turns south and then flows to the south east through Yixian County. After flowing from the north of the Xihe River, the Dalinhe River again sharply turns south and eventually flows into the Gulf of Bohai .
