Biography
Born on January 9 ( January 22 ), 1908 in Yelets (now Lipetsk Region ). After the death of her father and mother, she was brought up in the Yelets orphanage No. 3; Since 1922, she lived with the family of her older brother in Borisoglebsk .
Since 1925, at the Komsomol work. In 1932 she joined the CPSU (b) .
I studied for a year at the A.I. Herzen LPI . In 1934 she graduated from the MIFLI named after N. G. Chernyshevsky .
Since 1934, at Soviet and party work in Moscow. In 1941-1945, the chairman of the district executive committee, the first secretary of the Krasnopresnensky district committee of the CPSU (b) of Moscow.
In 1945-1957, the secretary of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions , simultaneously, in 1945-1968 - chairman of the Committee of Soviet Women , vice-chairman of the International Democratic Federation of Women.
In 1957-1958, the chairman of the All-Union Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Affairs , in 1958-1975. - Chairman of the Presidium of the Union of Soviet Societies for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries .
She was a member of the High Council , the Presidium of the Soviet Peace Committee , the Soviet Solidarity Committee of Asia and Africa , the Presidium of the Committee of Soviet Women, the Soviet Committee for European Security and Cooperation.
She was a candidate member of the CPSU Central Committee (1956-1961, elected at the XX Congress of the CPSU), member of the CPSU Central Committee (1961-1976, was elected at the XXII, XXIII [4] , XXIV [5] congresses of the CPSU).
She was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of the 2nd convocation (1947-1951, from the city of Kuibyshev [6] ), as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the 3rd (1950-1954, member of the Council of the Union from the Ivanovo region [7] ), 4th (1954-1958 , member of the Council of the Union from the Ivanovo region [8] ), 5th (1958-1962, member of the Union Council from the Kalinin region [9] ), 6th (1962-1966, member of the Council of Nationalities from the Mari ASSR [10] ), 7th (1966-1970, member of the Council of Nationalities from the North Ossetian ASSR [11] ), 8th (1970-1974, member of the Council of Nationalities of the North Ossetian ASSR [12] ) and 9th (1974-1979, Member of the Council of Nationalities from the North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [13] ) yv.
Since 1975, retired.
She was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery [14] .

Father - Vasily Petrovich Popov, artisan. Mother - Lyubov Alexandrovna, nee Borisova (? - 1920). Of the 13 children in the family, four survived.
Brothers - Alexey, Nikolay.
Sister - Olga.
Husband - Andrei Semenovich Shamshin (1903-1972), agronomist.
- daughter - Renita Andreyevna Grigorieva (born July 13, 1931), director, screenwriter, actress; Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1983); married to the filmmaker Yuri Valentinovich Grigoriev (born February 16, 1932).
Husband (since 1942) - Vasily Fedorovich Orlov (02.28.1916 - 03.3.1945), Hero of the Soviet Union , colonel, commander of the tank corps [15] .
