History
The club was founded on July 27, 1935 by three members of the city council of Lima. The following year, the team began its participation in the championship of Peru, and soon it came to success. The first title was won in 1938, from that moment on, the “Golden Era” begins for Munisipal, which lasted until the middle of the 20th century .
From 1940 to 1947, the team did not fall below second place, and in 1940 and 1943 occupied the first place. The golden era ended after the fourth title won in 1950. The following year, the team took second place. Until 1967, the team did not show good results, and as a result flew from Examples to the second division. However, the very next year she won the championship in the second division, which allowed her to return to Example, where she stayed until 2000.
In 2006, she won the second division again and returned to the first, but due to financial difficulties and poor play, the team ended up in the lower leagues. After a brief stay in the lower leagues, Deportivo Municipal returned to the second division in 2012, and two years later won the third title and returned to the major league.
