Professional career

Taras Bidenko made his debut in the professional ring in June 2000 in the heavy weight category. The first fight was won by knockout in the 5th round of the 6-round match, and left professional boxing for almost 2 years. He returned in 2002 , and spent 2 more rating matches.

Bidenko vs. Nikolai Valuev

In July 2002, Taras went to South Korea to fight in the fourth round in a 12-round fight for the title of Pan-Asian champion according to PABA. The young, 22-year-old Taras, who has little experience in fighting, was opposed by the undefeated Russian giant, the largest boxer in history, Nikolai Valuev (28-0). Valuev was much more experienced, more dimensional, and exceeded Bidenko in almost all aspects of boxing skills. And the choice of Taras as an applicant was very doubtful. The Ukrainian entered the ring as a complete underdog, but managed to show tremendous tenacity and stamina. In the 8th round, Taras was knocked down, but the overall picture of the battle was in favor of the Ukrainian. The fight came out very dramatic and intense. The last round, Bidenko entered a close fight with Valuev , and several times greatly shocked the Russian before the final gong. The result was booed by the audience. Victory was awarded to Valuev. But Taras grew in ratings, because he not only managed to get all 12 rounds at the initial stage of his career against a more experienced Russian, but also gave the Russian giant the hardest fight of his career in all 29 matches [1] .

2002—2007

A few months later, Valuev released the PABA title, and in October 2002, Bidenko won the interim PABA title by knocking out Russian, Vladislav Andreev, in the second round. At the end of 2002, he was injured again and did not enter the ring for more than a year.

Returning in 2003, he began to win rating boxers again, and on December 12, 2004, entered the ring against Romanian Konstantin Onofrei, in the fight for the international champion title of Germany and for the intercontinental world title according to WBO , and knocked him out in the 7th round of the 12-round battlefield.

His next fight, in 2005, Bidenko lost by knockout to compatriot Vladimir Virchis (16-0).

After the defeat, he began to enter the ring with high frequency, and against experienced boxers. So he defeated Fabio Moli , the undefeated Alexei Mazykin (9-0), Aldo Collander (9-0), Andres Sidon (32-6) and Dominican Ferneli Felz (23-7).

On June 30, 2007, Bidenko entered the ring against the Dutch Avenue, Richel Ercis (29-1). In the early rounds, Ercisia could not oppose anything to the faster and more technical Bidenko. Moreover, if the Ukrainian had a knockout punch, Richel would have been even harder. But in the middle of the match, the rival of Ercisia, due to either fatigue or other reasons, ceased to show proper activity, and the Dutchman managed to level the battle. In the final rounds, Richel had some advantage, undoubtedly surpassing the opponent in the number and accuracy of strikes. At the end of the battle, all three judges gave the victory to Bidenko, although only the verdicts of the referees Ramirez and Shimakawa reflected the true state of affairs in the ring. [2]

  • In October 2007, Bidenko won on points by an experienced Brazilian boxer, George Aris (41-9).
  • And in May 2008, Taras entered the ring with a British boxer. Michael Sprott and defeated him on points [3] , and many other boxers. After another long winning streak, Taras met with the undefeated Russian puncher, Denis Boytsov .

For more than a year, Bidenko did not enter the ring, and returned to meet with Russian prospect, knockout, Denis Boytsov . From the first minutes of the match, it became apparent that the Russian has a significant advantage not only in striking power, but also in speed of hands. As a result, Bidenko, who himself was previously distinguished by good speed and reflexes, often did not have time to react to Boytsov's lightning short “shots”. In this battle, the Ukrainian relied on long-range work with a jab and double weakly accented blows, but his opponent acted much sharper. The fighters variably and successfully attacked, regularly puzzling the opponent with multi-hit combinations with alternating attacks to the head and body, and, if necessary, brutally met Bidenko with timely counterattacks. The Russian looked especially successful when, when approaching an opponent, he inflicted sharp uppercuts towards him and strong right crosses . In the first two rounds of the battle, Boytsov’s superiority was small, but, starting from the third three-minute period, Denis began to gain an advantage. It was in the third round that the Fighters for the first time seriously shocked the Ukrainian with the next exact right cross, although he did not develop his success. In the fourth round, Bidenko focused on attacks on the hull, which somewhat offset the noticeable superiority of Boytsov, but the next three-minute segment was again dictated by Denis. Easily repelling a somewhat chaotic onslaught of the opponent, the Russian carried out a number of accurate punches, in particular, a magnificent short right uppercut against the body. In the sixth round, the advantage of the Russian heavyweight already seemed overwhelming. Toward the end of the round, the Fighters again shocked Bidenko, having carried out a series of various attacks, and this time did not "let go" of the opponent. The Ukrainian still managed to interrupt a series of accentuated hits by Denis, tying him in a clinch. But immediately after the referee's command to continue the fight, at the moment of rapprochement the Fighters struck a short, excellent in accuracy and speed, left bottom-side impact on the opponent’s jaw and sent Bidenko to a heavy knockdown . Bidenko before the referee countdown was able to take an upright position, but was unable to continue the fight. [four]

Booking

After losing to Boytsov, Bidenko had the next fight against Finn Robert Helenius . [5] The opponent’s attacks were very strong, and in the interval between rounds 3 and 4, Taras refused to continue the fight. In 2010, Taras defeated Christian Hammer and Pavels Dolgovs on points. In March 2012, Taras entered the ring against an undefeated German of Syrian descent, Manuel Charr, for the vacant silver title of the international WBC world champion . The fight came out very competitive, and Bidenko, although he lost, but delivered a lot of trouble to Charr. [6]
