Content
Story
Severe trials fall on the share of priest Basil of Thebes. His oldest son is drowning, and the youngest is sick with dementia. His wife Nastasya cannot stand it - she begins to drink heavily , makes a suicide attempt and dies in a fire in their house. And then there is the death of the parishioners, their repentance for terrible sins and a conflict with the elder. Experiencing an acute mental crisis, Father Basil feels that he is gradually losing faith in God, can no longer serve, and even decides to remove his dignity . Will he be able to withstand the blows of fate and maintain his faith? ...
