Sports Biography

Initially, Valent played football, but after a leg injury, he joined his brothers Matie and Martin, who were engaged in rowing. Since 2004, Valens began performing at the junior world championships. In 2006, Sinkovic together with Damir Martin became the silver medalist of the junior world championship in twins doubles. In 2008, Valens together with his younger brother Martin made their way to the final of the adult European Championship in twos doubles and took the 5th place there. At the 2009 World Championships, the Sinkovich brothers in the four-pair doubles became the 4th.

In September 2010, Sinkovic became the silver medalist of the European Championship in the competition of fours in the pair. Sinkovic achieved his first major success in the world championships in November 2010, when he became a world champion in the top four. Together with Valent, Martin won the gold medal. The following year, the Croatian rowers were again among the prize winners of the world championship in the fourth, after finishing third.

In 2012, Valens took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as part of the steam room four. And at the preliminary stage, and in the semifinals of the competition, the Croatian crew reached the finish line first. From the very start of the final swim, the German national team burst forth, which with each meter only increased its lead and eventually came to the finish line first. The Croatian Four fought for the second place with the Australians. At the finish, Sinkovic with partners beat the Australian team by 0.44 s. and became silver medalists of the Games. Two months later, the Sinkovich brothers in twos doubles became European champions.

At the 2013 World Championships, Sinkovic won the gold medal for the second time in his career. In 2014, at the World Championships, Valent and Martin for the first time performed in doubles in a pair at the World Championships. According to the results of the competitions, Croatian rowers with a large margin became the winners of the final swim. At the 2015 World Championships, the Sinkovich brothers defended their champion title in twos, becoming four-time world champions.
