The 2017 World Track Cycling Championship was held in Hong Kong from April 12 to 16 under the auspices of the UCI . The last championship held in Asia was in 1990 - the world championship in the Japanese city of Maebashi .

The Australian team won the team event, winning 3 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze awards. Also, 3 athletes from France and Russia won 3 gold medals. The winners of the last world championship the British team immediately won 3 gold medals less than last year, this was largely due to the absence of the team leaders Jason and Laura Kenny at the championship.
Four athletes at once ( Benjamin Toma , Christina Vogel , Daria Shmeleva and Chloe Digert ) were able to win two gold medals in the world championship, while the German cyclist also has bronze in the team sprint.
