Biography
Born October 2, 1934 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi , Georgia ). In 1958 he graduated from the Geological Department of the Tbilisi Polytechnic Institute . In 1961, he began working at the Georgia Film Studio. In 1967, he participated as the second cameraman in the filming of the film “Prayer” by Tengiz Abuladze . Later, as a cameraman, he shot two films by Tengiz Abuladze: “ Necklace for My Beloved ” (1971) and “The Tree of Desire ” (1976). In 1974 he graduated from the correspondence department of the operator department of VGIK (workshop of A. Temerin , A. Halperin ). Lomer Akhvlediani made two films with the director Rezo Chkheidze : the large-scale social drama “Your Son, the Earth” with a harsh and at the same time romantic image, and “The Life of Don Quixote and Sancho ”, filled with picturesque harmony. Since 1994, he has worked mainly in Russia with directors Vladimir Naumov , Eldar Ryazanov , Stanislav Govorukhin , Vsevolod Shilovsky [1] and others.
Lomer Akhvlediani was the chairman of the jury of the White Square Award (2006) [2] and the Artkino Film Festival (2012) [3] , and was a member of the jury of the Kinoshok Film Festival (2014) [4] .
