Eric Refilsson is mentioned in one of the oldest sagas that have come down to us, The Hervey Saga :
Then power was taken by Eirik son of Reville; he was a great warrior and a very powerful king.
- The Saga of Herver and Heidrek [1]
Perhaps Eric was a very successful ruler. As mentioned in the life of Ansgar , when he and his hagiographer Rimbert arrived for the second time in Birka , the saint saw that the locals began to worship the dead King Eric [2] . It is possible that the life in question is not about Eric Refilsson, but about his uncle Eric Bjørnson .
According to " Younger Edda ", at the court of Eric lived the skald Jarl Alv Small [3] .
