Kusov, Dmitry Ippolitovich

Dmitry Ippolitovich Kusov ( Osset. Khuysaty Dimitar , September 10, 1889 , Vladikavkaz - February 9, 1964 ) - Ossetian Soviet poet and playwright. He wrote in Ossetian and Russian.

Biography

Born September 10, 1889 in Vladikavkaz. In 1889, his family moved to Irkutsk in search of work. In this city he spent his childhood and youth. In 1906, after the death of his father, he returned to Vladikavkaz with his mother. In 1908 he graduated from the Vladikavkaz city school.

From 1915 to 1917 he served in the army. After demobilization he moved to Tiflis. Later he moved to Moscow, where he worked as an ethnographer-consultant and assistant director at the film factory. In 1923, according to his script, the film "Abrek Zaur" was shot. Since 1927 he lived in Rostov-on-Don. During the Great Patriotic War he returned to North Ossetia.

In 1945 he joined the CPSU (b).

He died on February 9, 1964.

Creativity

In Ossetian literature, it is more known as a playwright. He wrote several dozen plays. In 1912 he wrote his first play, Children of the Mountains, which was staged on the stage of the Vladikavkaz Russian Theater . Director of the play E. Vakhtangov took part in the production of the play. In 1914 he wrote the drama Zaurbek and the comedy Unsuccessful Abduction, which were staged at the Ossetian theater in Tiflis. In 1928, a play in four acts, White Fog, was staged on the stage of the Vladikavkaz Russian Theater.

While living in Rostov-on-Don, he published the play “Mariam” in Russian and in 1931 a collection of essays on his travels in the North Caucasus under the title “Goryanka”. In 1940 he wrote the play "Hero of the Mishutka"; The play on this play withstood about 500 productions on the stage of the Rostov Drama Theater. This play was released as a separate publication in 1942 in Vladikavkaz.
