Coptic music

Coptic music - music performed by the Coptic Orthodox Church (Church of Egypt ). It is composed of many hymns, which are pronounced in rhythm with such instruments as plates (hand and large) and a triangle. Coptic music is purely religious.

Coptic chants are a very old tradition, presumably having connections with the ancient liturgies of Jerusalem or Syria , while many tunes were adapted from ancient Egyptian funeral rites and other rituals. Until the recent advent of liturgical books, music was transmitted orally. In modern chants, types of melodies are widely used to improvise a singer.

Percussion instruments used by the Coptic Church are unusual for Christian services [1] .
