Biography

Orphaned early, brought up by the British consul in Livorno, brother of the wife of Count N. S. Mordvinov , accepted Russian citizenship and entered the Russian service on June 25, 1788 as a captain from chamberlains of the Polish court. In the same year, on November 9, he was promoted to second major in the Primorsky Nikolaev Grenadier Regiment; in 1793 he was transferred as prime minister to the Smolensky Dragoon Regiment, where on January 29, 1794 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel ; at the beginning of next year, the light-regiment regiment moved to Sumy, and on April 8, 1796 - to the Tauride Horse-Jaeger.

During the reign of Catherine II, he participated in the Second Turkish War , first in the rowing fleet near Ochakov, under the command of Admiral Mordvinov, and then as part of the Moldavian Army, when crossing the Dniester and the Danube. He was at the capture of Bender and Ackerman and the assault of Ishmael, where (March 26, 1791) was shell-shocked in the neck. He participated in the famous victory at Machin , on March 31, 1792 he was awarded the Order of St. George 4 degrees, No. 918 (492)

January 10, 1798 promoted to colonel, January 8, 1799 - major general and June 8 dismissed. Admitted again to service on December 27, 1801, appointed commandant to Odessa and chief of the Ladoga Infantry Regiment . In 1816, he received special Highest Benevolence for his efforts to stop in 1812 the “plague” (plague) that was in the Kherson province and was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree.

Due to illness, he was dismissed on February 8, 1819 from service with the rank of lieutenant general with a uniform and pension. The village of Koblevo , a street in Odessa, is named after him.
