Perm Ladies' Care for the Poor is a charitable organization founded in Perm on June 10, 1862. It was established at the initiative of several ladies of high society - A. V. Lashkareva , A. F. Bykova, A. Ya. Gesenvinkel, A. S. Lyubimova - the wives of Governor A. G. Lashkarev , Vice Governor, Provincial Prosecutor and Commerce Advisor, respectively . At first, the organization’s activities were expressed in the distribution of cash benefits to the needy, providing them with food and firewood. Then, in 1865, at the expense of the organization, a shelter for the poor was opened, and then an elementary school was founded [1] .
On the initiative and funds of the Guardianship, on November 3, 1866, a refuge for the poor children was opened in Perm [2] . In 1889, the shelter began the construction of the church of Mary Magdalene according to the project of architect A. B. Turchevich . By the end of the 19th century , the Guardianship House also housed a charity house for elderly women, as well as a nursery for workers' children in the Soldier’s settlement and on Sludka [3] .
Since 1887, the Perm Ladies' Guardianship of the Poor has become the local branch of the Imperial philanthropic society [3] .
