Melodic is an international daily online publication dedicated to music criticism , news and interviews with artists. The site focuses on independent music , while the range of music genres covered is very wide and includes rock, pop, folk, jazz, heavy metal, electronic and experimental music. [2] Melodic was founded in 1999 and focuses on new music, however, journalists also review various reprints, box sets. In addition, the site publishes an annual list of the best albums. [3]

History
The website was launched in Sweden under the name Midwestern Skies . [4] It was founded by music industry worker Pär Winberg, who was involved in A&R with EMI Music Sweden and Lionheart Music Group . [5] He has also worked with artists such as The Real Group and Robert Wells . [6] At the same time, the authors of the site come from various countries and continents. [5]
In May 2002, the site was renamed. [7] In 2011, Melodic published user voting results in ten categories. [8] The Swedish rock band The Pusher with the debut album The Art of Hit Music won three of them. In January 2012, Melodic announced a new chart based on user votes. It starts every Monday morning and consists of fifteen tracks. [9]
