Content
Geography
The village is located south of the Lenin Canal, in the northwestern part of the Mozdok district , near the border of North Ossetia and the Stavropol Territory . It is located 33 km northwest of the regional center of Mozdok and 133 km northwest of the city of Vladikavkaz .
It borders the lands of settlements: Novobaltiysky in the north, Elbaevo in the east and Chernoyarskaya in the south.
The village is located on the sloping Kabardian plain. The terrain is mostly flat, with tuberous and mound hills in some places. Average altitudes are about 175 meters above sea level.
The hydrographic network in the village is poorly represented. To the north of the settlement passes the channel named after Lenin, which irrigates the farmland and gardens of the village.
The climate is humid and temperate. The average annual air temperature is + 10.5 ° С. Air temperature on average ranges from + 23.3 ° C in July to -2.5 ° C in January. The average annual rainfall is about 570 mm. Most rainfall occurs between May and July. At the end of summer, dry winds blowing from the territory of the Caspian lowland are frequent .
History
The multinational settlement was founded in 1959 , on the basis of the state farm of the same name near the channel named after Lenin.
The village got its name in honor of the leader of the German Communists - Ernst Thalmann .
