Zimich, Vladimir Stepanovich

Born on April 27, 1932 in the village of Kryva-Ruda, Poltava region, Ukrainian SSR .

In 1956 he graduated from the Kharkov Mining Institute , having received the qualification of a mining engineer surveyor.

After graduation he worked in the mines of Donbass as a precinct and chief surveyor.

From 1961 to 1997 he worked in the system of Gosgortekhnadzor of the Ukrainian SSR , Gosgortekhnadzor of the USSR and Gosgortekhnadzor of Russia at the posts of a district mining technical inspector, then head of the Donetsk Regional Mining and Technical Inspectorate for ore and non-metallic minerals, and deputy head of the Donetsk Region Gostekhnadzor.

From 1981 - Head of the Department for Supervision over the Protection of the Subsoil and the Geological Surveying Control of the USSR State Technical Supervision Service.

Since 1992 - Head of the same department in the Gosgortekhnadzor of Russia .

In the early 1990s , he became one of the initiators of the creation of the All-Russian public organization “Union of Russian Surveyors” ^[1] . After its formation ( 1995 ), he was elected President of this organization. Remains in this post to the present.

Under the leadership of Zimich BC, six congresses of surveyors of Russia and all-Russian conferences were held, which addressed topical issues of surveying, outlined measures to solve the problems that had arisen.

Supporter of the state status of the surveying service , whose activities should ensure the sovereign interests of the country during the development of mineral resources and be regulated by a special national legislative act.

He is the author of more than 80 publications in the field of the protection and rational use of mineral resources , as well as many regulatory documents on surveying.

Under the guidance and with the direct participation of V. S. Zimich, for the first time in world and domestic practice, the “Uniform rules for the protection of mineral resources in the development of mineral deposits” (1985) were developed and approved ^[2] .

He is one of the main developers of the Law of the Russian Federation "On Subsoil" (1992) ^[3] .

Author of a number of inventions.

Member of the Academy of Mining Sciences (1996) ^[4] and the International Academy of Mineral Resources (1993).

After retiring from public service, he works as a leading researcher at the Industrial Safety Management Department of the Scientific and Technical Center for Industrial Safety Problems CJSC ^[5] .
