Cornelis Evertsen (middle) ( niderl. Cornelis Evertsen de Jonge ; April 16, 1628 , Vlissingen - September 20, 1679 , Vlissingen ) - the Dutch admiral of the XVII century.

Cornelis was the son of Lieutenant-Admiral Johan Evertsen and nephew of Lieutenant-Admiral Cornelis Evertsen Sr. He should not be confused with his cousin, Lt. Admiral Cornelis Evertsen Jr.
Cornelis became a foreman on the flagship of his father Holland in 1648. In 1651, when he was a lieutenant, he served as captain on the same ship. He became a captian in Vlissingen in 1652 during the First Anglo-Dutch War . In 1653, he was wounded in the battle of Scheveningen , commanding his father’s flagship. In 1659 he received the rank of captain. In 1661, he serves as captain on the Delft in the Mediterranean.
In July 1665, after the Lowstof battle during the Second Anglo-Dutch War , Cornelis was appointed Rear Admiral of the Admiralty of Zeeland . He fought on the Zirikzee in a four-day battle . He became Vice-Admiral of Zealand on September 5, 1666, the year his father and uncle died. He did not participate in the raid on Medway in 1667, because the fleet of Zealand was not prepared at that time.
He participated in all the battles of the Third Anglo-Dutch War on his flagship Zirikzee .
In the Dutch War, Cornelis participated in the failed attack on Martinique in 1674 under the leadership of Ruyter .
In 1676, he fought on the side of Denmark against Sweden, first under the leadership of Admiral-General Cornelis Tromp , then as commander-in-chief. And in 1678 he acted against the French fleet in the Mediterranean and near the west coast of France.
Cornelis was an educated man, he was twice married to women from wealthy families. He died of the disease in Vlissingen.
