Biography
Ferenc Hatlatsky was born on January 17, 1934 in the city of Veches , the Pest county . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, was trained in Budapest in the capital's sports club "Epithek".
The first serious success at the adult international level was in 1954, when he joined the Hungarian national team and went to the world championship in French Macon, where he brought bronze, gold and silver dignity, won in the standings of single kayaks at distances of 1000 m, 10000 m and in the relay 4 × 500 m, respectively.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . I started here alone on ten kilometers, took second place in the decisive race and thereby won the silver Olympic medal - better than him only Sweden Gert Fredriksson finished in the final.
After the Melbourne Olympics, Hatlatsky remained in the main composition of the rowing team of Hungary and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1958, he performed at the world championship in Prague, where he became the silver medalist in singles at a thousand meters and in the relay program. The last time showed any significant result on the international scene in the 1959 season, when he won the European Championship in Duisburg in a single ten-kilometer discipline. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career, giving way to young Hungarian rowers in the national team.
Subsequently, he worked as an engineer, architect and designer. He died on September 8, 1986 in Budapest.
