Pseudo-Skymn is a symbol given by August Meineck to the ancient Greek geographer , the author of Περίοδος του Νικομήδη - a work on geography written in ancient Greek by the three-legged iamba and dedicated to the king of Bithynia named Nycomed 11 - this is AD), or his son Nycomed III Everget (127–94 years BC) [1] .
Authorship Περίοδος του Νικομήδη
The work was first published in Augsburg in 1600 . Since the text was discovered along with the epithets of Marcian of Heracles , it was first published under his name. Since this was clearly a mistake, and Isaac Voss soon attributed the work to Skymn of Chios , repeatedly mentioned as the author of Περιήγησις. Publications continued under this name until 1846, when August Meineke, at the next reprint, clearly noticed that there was no reason to attribute the work to Skimn, since Skymn's work was written in prose, and the one in verse. Since then, Περίοδος του Νικομήδη has been published under the name Pseudo-Skymn [2] .
In 1955, Aubrey Diller suggested that Pausanius of Damascus might be hiding under the name Pseudo-Skymn. If so, then he was to live in Bithynia around 100 BC. e. [3]
In 2004, Konstantin Bolshakov suggested that the Pseudo-Skymn could be Semos Delos [4] .
